2022 Pink & Blue Swim/Walk

Pink & Blue swim/walk was an event to raise awareness and funds in support of breast and prostate cancer. It was great to see the UniSA Swimming Club have such a strong appearance at the charity event to show our support. The club had 10 participants plus 5 family and friends and 1 doggo (Rosemary).

The 1km swim participants were Albert, Radek, Alvin, Allana, Liam, Jay, Declan, Mitchell, Mardi, and Andrew. The 2km walk participants were Tom, Jordie, Rosemary, Gozia, Sarah, and Sydney. A special mention to the club running into Bec Milton who also entered and completed her first open water swim. It was perfect conditions with nice blue skies, warm weather, and a calm ocean. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. The swim and walk was a non-competitive event so Andrew decided to swim with a GoPro which he later regretted as there was nothing interesting he found and had to carry it for the full swimming distance. Most of the swimmers were not impressed with the 1km walk prior to the 1km swim either but all were forgotten with the refreshments provided at the end of the swim with drinks and tasty fruits.

After the event was completed, most of the beers gathered around for coffee and a BBQ and enjoyed the sunshine with fan favorites Rosemary. We hope to have a big attendance at next year's event and show our support for the cause.

The club has been involved with many charity events in 2022 so far with several members signed up for the Starlight Super swim raising money for sick kids by setting a swim distance to target for the month. Allana, Andrew, Mardi, Jacquie, Lexi, Mary, and Brandon have all signed up and are even involved in the swims. Please make sure you show your support by donating to one of the members or to the team as a collective. Andrew and Eli will be completing a similar challenge in March to raise awareness of youth mental health which the majority of Uni students and club members may have experienced or know someone close to them who has gone through some tough times. Please show your support by donating to the swimmers involved. Links are all below.

If you are struggling with mental health then please speak to one of the committee members, coach, peers, or lifeline on 13 11 14.
