New year! New us!

OFFICIAL AFFILIATION WITH MASTERS SWIMMING!!!

Welcome to the new year. In 2021, UniSA Swimming Club is now officially affiliated with Masters Swimming SA. The club has been working on this for a while and it finally happened. It was tough starting the club fresh in 2020 with a global pandemic going around but we managed to survive and come back stronger than ever.

To kick-off 2021, UniSA Swimming Club competed in their very first Masters Meet as an affiliated Masters club at Gawler. We had 7 total swimmers participated at the Gawler meet.

To start off, Our club captain Alvin Fu swam a state record in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 57.75, and Chi (Richard) Zhao swam a 25.37 in the 50m Freestyle to claim the new state record. Congratulations to both swimmers. This was a great way to let the Masters Swimming know we mean business.

Andrew Swam the 200m Butterfly with minimal training leading up to it. Andrew was able to finish the race with a time of 2:54.60 and a KFC Zinger box. Anthony was so impressed at Andrew's endurance that he has kindly offer to buy Andrew a KFC Zinger box if he finishes the 200m Butterfly. Andrew's next mission the 400m Butterfly. Will he conquer it?

The club did an amazing job at coming 4th overall in the meet with only 7 swimmers. Everyone enjoyed the first-ever meet at Masters and we can't wait to compete again next month at Strathalbyn.

We also want to thank our helpers for taking photos of the swimmers. Shoutout to Dinura for editing the photos and uploading it on our Instagram stories and Samantha and Jules for helping take photos. Nick assisted Andrew (Head coach) with timing our swimmers.
