The first race to start 2022 and another year of Covid affecting social events and swimming competitions. This time we saw Andrew sitting out as he was deemed a close contact and received his 2nd negative result the day before the race but missed out on registration. Andrew did make an appearance at Seacliff and walked along the beach to enjoy his first day of freedom after 7 days of isolation.
The regulars attended the Pub to Pub swim this day with Liam, Radek, and Samuel taking it for the team. This race was pretty straightforward as it was a straight swim with the current from Seacliff to Brighton. Spectators were able to get a bit of exercise in with a casual stroll along the water following the swimmers. Liam as usual was at the from of the crowd but Emily White was ahead of him powering the whole 1.6km.
This time, we saw Samuel outswim his dad as he didn't turn around to swim in the wrong direction and cost him time. Samuel finished the race in a time of 44:12.6 with his dad Radek trailing behind in a time of 47:25.3. Liam finished 2nd overall behind Emily in a time of 24:39.1. The Master's open water swim towel is looking promising for these 3 swimmers.
