What a great way to end the weekend and uni holidays at the Strathalbyn swimming meet.
We had a total of 7 swimmers, Andrew Truong, Allana Sagubo, Ivan Choong, Albert Sztolc, Alvin Fu and with 2 new swimmers; Hui Hai Yao and Nick Tam.
Andrew, Allana, Ivan, and Albert had a massive weekend with the Port Elliot OWS on Saturday and swimming at Strathalbyn sore on Sunday. Thank you for representing the Swim Club in the ocean and the pool.
Everyone did well with some ups and downs. Started with Andrew having some technical issues with his racing bathers being over stretched (don't worry, nothing ripped) and had to change into new bathers just before his first race in the 200m IM. Andrew lead the pack in the butterfly and backstroke leg but his Breaststroke let him down and was required to come home hard in the Freestyle hone stretch. Andrew was out touched and came 2nd by 0.2 seconds.
A dominating performance from first timer Nick Tam breaking 2 state records out of his 3 swims. He could have broken 3 for 3 if Nick didn't slip on the blocks in his 50m Breaststroke. Nick now holds the 50m Freestyle state record of 25.48s out touching our club captain Alvin Fu by 0.12s and smashing the 200m Breaststroke record of 2:47.19. Alvin dominated in his 50m Backstroke and breaking the state record with a time of 30.02. The UniSA Swimming Club would like to congratulate both Alvin and Nick with their outstanding achievements. We are showing the other swim clubs what we can do.
Our next and final summer series swim will be held at Woodside on the 14th of March and it would be good to get as many supporters out there as possible.
