2021 MSSA INTERCLUB SERIES MEET 1 - SC

As the weather cools down for winter the competition is heating up at the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre (SAALC) for the first of the Interclub Series with Masters Swimming SA (MSSA).

For the five swimmers that came out, it was a great opportunity to see how they've improved since the State Cup and see some familiar faces from the other Masters' clubs. Massive thanks to Albert, Chelsea, Fleur, Jay, and Robin for braving the cold morning and digging deep to get some great PBs throughout the day.

The day started with Albert being handed an overflowing folder full of certificates for the wicked records that the team managed to get at the State Cup – so congratulations again to all those swimmers! You can see the records in our last blog post HERE.

The morning's swim started with a couple of big swims from Chelsea and Jay with the 400m Freestyle, but they managed to maintain their energy throughout the day to do a couple more swims and cheer on their teammates. Throughout the day Albert, Fleur, and Robin also felt good about their swims and managed to get a few PBs. Albert was particularly happy with his 100m Freestyle time of 1:01.52, which he hopes to get down to 1:00.00 by the end of the year. Fleur felt good during both of her swims and commented that she felt much stronger during these swims than last time. Robin was very happy with his 50m Butterfly with a time of 36.51 and is eager to head out again with the team next time. However, the swimmer of the meet surely has to be Jay, who showed us what real dedication to the sport is by getting right back into the pool after the event was over to get a bit more training in – then going out for some hard earnt dumplings afterward with Anthony, our friend (and competitor) from Adelaide Masters.

Is it a real Masters meet without UniSA Swimming Club breaking more records? Chelsea Robinson has smashed the 200m Individual Medley state record by swimming a time of 2:34.24 and breaking the state record by a whopping 1.84 seconds and missing the 400m Freestyle by 2.31s with a time of 4:49.21 due to some sloppy turns. Congratulation Chelsea on breaking another state record!!!
